Why changing your mindset is important to FINALLY reach your fitness goals! - Forever Aesthetic Company

It goes without saying that when your head isn't in the game, you won't perform to the best of your abilities. And this is true for us that deep down inside want to reach our fitness goals and find ourselves struggling again, and again, and againand again! Whether this may be a finding it hard to stick to a nutrition and diet plan, or having a hard time keeping up to speed with a weight loss or muscle training program, many of us struggle for this one main reason (and it's might not what you think it is).

The reason why a lot of people struggle with their fitness goals is because of their mindset! Mindset, defined by Webster's dictionary is "...a particular way of thinking: a person's attitude or set of opinions about something," and this can challenge the way we reach ANY goals we set in lives because of the two common categories mindset falls in - broken/scarcity and abundant.

The broken or scarcity mindset revolves around a person concerned and worried about the lack of things (whether that be material, wealth, opportunities). This mindset makes it harder to reach fitness goals because we believe that we aren't deserving enough to reach our goal, we're looking for fast results and we feel like we don't have what we need. Essentially, this is the mindset that is driven around negativity that holds us back from reaching our fitness goals - which is why some people may do boot camps, and not come back, or stick to a meal plan for five days, and go back to eating Big Macs the next week. It isn't necessarily because we don't have enough willpower or because we have cravings, but those with this mindset are fixated on the immediate results, or find excuses on why they choose not to invest in themselves, rather than what it would look and feel like to have a customized plan, and a team to coach them through it.

On the other hand, the abundant mindset revolves around a person who is not concerned and worried about the “lack of…”. but rather appreciative of the things that they currently have, and the steps that need to be taken to accomplish their goals. This person continuously focuses on growth and challenging themselves, thinks positive thoughts about what they will look like when they reach their goal, and can help to encourage others to reach their fitness goals because they  want everyone to succeed.

So, how can you change your mindset from broken to abundant to reach your fitness goals if you're not there already? Here are three tips:

  1. Be SPECIFIC with your goals: Mike and Lisa do an amazing job assessing your needs by understanding what it is that you want to achieve so they can get you results with consistency! So be as specific as you can to outline to them what your goals are. Rather than saying "I just want to lose weight," position it as specific as you can to help them customize a plan that works for you by saying "I want to lose 15lbs pounds by the end of the month." This makes it more realistic for you, which is what the abundant mindset really focuses on.
  2. Assess your thoughts – As weird as this sounds, take a moment to think about your thoughts before, during and while you workout, prep your meals, or write down your goals. Is what you’re thinking based on your self-limiting beliefs? That you won't be able to stick to a diet plan because you have temptations all around you? Or that you no one believes in you? If it is, think about what it will feel like when you accomplish the goal(s) you set for yourself before you reach it. By doing this, you're training your mindset to focus on abundance!
  3. Declare and Affirm IT! –When you declare what you know is something YOU deserve, affirm it daily, so you can start to train your subconscious mind to understand how powerful you are and how you can get this. Rather than saying "I want to lose 15 pounds this month," say "by November this year, I have lost 15 pounds."
